Shanghai Yuhai Shipping CompanyEstablished in February 1990, Shanghai Yuhai Shipping Company (SYHSCO), owned by Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), is a state-owned company approved by Ministry of Communications. SYHSCO locates in Shanghai Lujiazui Finance And Trade Zone. Prior to the formation of the company, it was called Shipping Dept. of SMU which started ship management business in 1974.
Benefited from the opening-up policy of Shanghai Pudong Area, SYHSCO provides the most satisfactory services for clients both home and abroad with its strong academic support from the leading navigation university of SMU. The businesses of the company include: worldwide cargo services, international container services, shipping agency, shipping operations management, ship repair and ship store supply, technology consulting services and manning services. SYHSCO has now 201 employees, 20 of them are working in the office. The contracted seafarers are over 800, of which 2/5 are officers graduated from maritime universities. The company recruits every year fresh graduates as well. The company consists of Safety Superintend Office, ISM Office, Shipping Dept, Personnel Dept, Engineering Dept, Financial Dept, and Seafarers Resources Dept. The department managers are either experienced ocean-going Captains or Chief Engineers or bachelor-degree-or-above holders to make certain the scientific, safe and efficient ship management. SYHSCO owns an ocean-going cargo vessels named MV YU FENG, engaging in navigation training, which offers services with its shipping area mainly in Southeast-Asia area. MV YU FENG gives a big contribution to oceangoing shipping businesses and the training of senior officers. Having experienced officers, systematic ship management and well-educated seafarers, SYHSCO has also been trusted by other companies to manage MV YUYIN and MV YU LING . Apart from the manning services of seafarers to the vessel ZHEN HUA 2, ZHEN HUA 4, ZHEN HUA 5，ZHEN HUA 7 and ZHEN HUA 9 which are all owned by Zhenhua Shipping Company carrying 65000gt post-panamax container cranes, SYSCO has as well one senior Chief Officer and one manager working in Zhen Hua Shipping Company to offer operational and technical support. Over the past ten years, the said vessels has been successfully carrying super-big equipments to countries of USA, Canada and Japan to bring benefits both financially and socially.
Authorized by Ministry of Commerce of PRC, SYHSCO holds the license to develop business of overseas manning services. The company has entered an agreement with VSHIPS, the world largest ship management company, Richfield from Singapore and OOCL on overseas employment of Chinese seafarers.
